Opportunity to apply for the Liz Harrison PaperHeaDs Scholarship

You are a young woman woking towards your PhD? Still looking for funding? Here's an opportunity to apply for the Liz Harrison PaperHeaDs scholarship.

Liz Harrison contributed to higher education in many ways. Her research into doctoral identity is ground-breaking and her thesis, awarded in 2010, was recognised by the examiners as providing a significant contribution to our understanding of the doctoral process. The Liz Harrison PaperHeaDs scholarship is one way of remembering this contribution and taking her work forwards.

Liz was a founder member of PaperHeaDs, a group of women who came together in 2001 to support each other in their varied journeys towards a PhD.  Her unwavering enthusiasm and positive attitude, her insightful comments and her empathetic listening were invaluable in the group.

Sadly Liz passed away in 2012. This scholarship will enable other women academics to find, create, foster and enjoy the kinds of communal processes facilitated by PaperHeaDs. The scholarship fund relies on donations and will be awarded every year to a woman academic who is working on a doctorate, in any field. A national call for scholarship applications is annually and the beneficiary is selected by the trustees of the scholarship.
